This is the earliest known evidence of crafted glass, of course glass has existed naturally forever. These early crafting's mostly consisted of non-translucent beads. Some say that glass beads were early forms of currency more so then gold, at least thats what I choose to believe.
In our more recent past just about anyone can melt and fuse glass in a artistic manner. The science behind this has come a very long way since as early as the 1960's when Chihuly started his career.
Its such a fun medium whether you want to do the traditional cold cut stained glass, blown or fused. Check out my site and let me know what you think.
My grandpa was a cabinet/furniture maker for most of his life. I can remember as a little boy standing in his shop smelling the fresh cut wood, waiting to see what he would come up with next. As I got older I actually got to help him with things, and that was some of the best times I can remember.
Woodworking in general is a labor of love and I sure do love it. At the end of a stressful day at the office I love to spend time in my shop and escape. Just let the dust fly and the energy flow. Most of all just have fun and greet each day with the mindset that it will be the best day of your life.
